This is a rare late 19th-century (1893) sterling silver and cut glass Victorian Aesthetic Movement antique pepper mill.
Made by Hukin & Heath, the design attributed to Christopher Dresser.
The silver embellished in lovely bark effect. The globular glass container has similar texture, matching the silver lid and the base. The multi-faceted glass has thick walls, and gives a shimmering effect.
All parts of the silver are individually hallmarked. All with matching marks.
The grinding mechanism is original to the pepper mill, by Peugeot Freres Brevetes SGDG. Fully working.
Free from personal inscriptions or monograms.
