This is a large 18th-century (1786-1797) George III Sheffield sterling silver & mother of pearl antique folding penknife.
Genuine mother-of-pearl scales, one side with an inscribed cartouche.
Decorative filework to the spine.
HALLMARKS: Sheffield, SILVER fineness 925
DIMENSION: Length: CLOSED 9cm (3 1/2"). OPEN 16cm (6 1/4") approx.
WEIGHT: 22g
CONDITION: The hinge is firm but does not give a very strong snap. The blade has a minor wobble. The silver still has a good thickness to it - not flimsy.
