This is a superb antique French 19th-century sterling silver food server / fish slice.
It has a chunky cylindrical handle covered with guilloche patterns, a large domed finial embellished with foliage and twist ropes.
The blade is decorated with beautiful hand-engraved fishes swimming amongst reeds and grasses.
The decorations are crisp and highly detailed.
Both the handle and blade are of high-grade silver, and each hallmarked with the French Minerva 1 - 950 silver standard.
