This is a Georgian-George III early 19th-century (c.1800) Sheffield sterling silver & mother of pearl penknife.
Genuine mother of pearl scales, one side with an inscribed cartouche.
The blade still has a good thickness of silver to it - not flimsy. Nice bright-cut engraved patterns on the blade's top edge.
The blade does not give a snap sound, and leaves a small gap when closed.
HALLMARKS: Sheffield, SILVER fineness 925.

CONDITION: No splits to the mother of pearl scales except some nibble around the edges.
